Pre-excitation as a cause of appearance and increased intensity of systolic murmurs.

چکیده
ASSOCIATION of cardiac murmurs with the Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome has been reported by several investigators .1 In the reported cases, however, the murmurs were not directly attributed to hemodynamic alterations produced by pre-excitation. This communication describes three patients with systolic murmurs related to pre-excitation. In one patient the murmur was heard only when the electrocardiographic WPW pattern was present, whereas in the other two the intensity of the murmur was significantly increased when the WPW pattern was present. Figure 1 Case 1. A. Electrocardiogram with WPW pattern. B. Lead I and two simultaneous phonocardio-grams, the upper with a nominal frequency of 50 c/s and the lower 300 c/s, recorded in the fourth intercostal space at the left sternal border. Note the fourth heart sound and the de

ISSN: 1652-6880, ISBN: 978-91-576-7323-7 Turbulence of various genesis in the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) causes systolic ejection murmurs. The prevalence of murmurs in adult boxer dogs is 50-80%, the majority of which are of low ...
متن کاملThe graphic configuration of innocent systolic murmurs.
The systolic murmurs heard in healthy subjects used to be called " functional " murmurs. White et al. (1942) recommended the term " physiologic." Evans (1947) called these murmurs " innocent." Others have called them " incidental,' "' accidental,'' or "' murmurs of unknown origin." The decision that a systolic murmur is innocent usually depends not only on the character of the murmur itself, bu...
متن کاملClinical significance of cardiac murmurs: Get the sound and rhythm!
Murmurs arise when blood flow becomes turbulent, causing vibration of cardiovascular structures. Physiological murmurs or functional murmurs result from turbulent flow associated with normal blood flows at high velocity. Pathological murmurs are caused by a pathological condition such as valvular regurgitation or congenital cardiac disease. When a murmur is diagnosed, we first need to identify ...

Background and Purpose: Pre-eclampsia is a pregnancy disorder which increases maternal and pre-natal morbidity and mortality. The incidence is about 5% and is influenced by pariety, genetic background, and environmental factors. At present, the sole treatment is termination. It is suitable to use antioxidants for pre-eclampsia prevention. The aim of this study is to measure the maternal serum...
متن کاملInnocent murmurs and third heart sounds in Black schoolchildren.
Normal auscultatory findings were studied during a heart survey in which 12 050 Black schoolchildren, aged 2 to 18 years, were examined by cardiologists. Physiological third heart sounds were detected in 96 per cent of children, innocent systolic murmurs in 72 per cent, and innocent mid-diastolic murmurs in 0.27 per cent. The term 'innocent systolic murmur" was used for vibratory systolic murmu...
